I Don't Like Music

I don't like music

But I don't tell people that

I like all music

I say

Anything you like is fine with me

I say with a smile.

I don't like music

But I do

But no one likes my music

So I say

I like all music

-Anything you like is fine with me

Hey y'all! This weeks post, I feel like is the only one so far that has actually needed a detailed explanation. Most of the time my writing starts with me thinking, contrary to popular belief, and this time I was thinking about how each time when someone asks me what kind of music I like, I most often respond with "I like all music". That is because I don't really have strong feelings towards one genre or artist, negative or positive, so I just say that I like all music; because it's much easier to say that instead of explaining all of this in an in person conversation. However, that isn't the reason I wrote the poem. I don't think of myself as a people pleaser, but I hate confrontation. If there is an awkward or heated situation, I'll avoid it at all costs. I love drama, but I hate being in drama. So, how do you avoid drama? You get on people's good side. How do you get on people's good side? You agree with them. Most everyone loves having their opinions be validated and agreed with - people hate challenge. Of course that isn't necessarily a good thing, first off, no challenge is pretty boring, and second, the notion of putting a mask on to hide your real opinion or personality isn't great, but that is the point of the poem. The reason for the repetition and the kind of melancholy tone is because avoiding confrontation through a guise isn't good, but it does work. And that's all I have to say about it! Have a nice day, or night, and remember, something strange is better than anything bland.
